Mary Ann Valentine (nee Cencula), 80, of Vermilion, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain after a brief illness.
She was born December 8, 1937 in Flushing, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 41 years moving from Cleveland.
Mary worked for Ohio Bell phone company as a coordinator for 17 years.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and enjoyed various crafts including crocheting, quilting, patchwork, and knitting. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, teaching her how to sew and play the piano.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew Valentine of Grand Rapids, MI and Mark Valentine of North Ridgeville; granddaughter, Makayla; and her brothers, Rev. Leonard Cencula of Cleveland, Andrew Cencula of New Athens, Frank Cencula of Denver, and Daniel Cencula of St. Clairesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Valentine in 2011; her parents, Frank and Sophia (Pabin) Cencula; and her brother, John Cencula.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 am followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Ron Brickner and Father Leonard Cencula will concelebrate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
