Clyde Deel, 81, of Vermilion, died Friday, January 4, 2019 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain after a lengthy illness.
He was born August 13, 1937 in Grundy, VA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 59 years moving from Virginia.
Clyde worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain on the assembly line and as a relief man retiring in 1993 after 33 years.
He was a member of the UAW #425 and enjoyed working on cars and tractors. He especially enjoyed being outdoors.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary (nee Combs) Deel; daughters, Vicki (Todd) Lezon of Vermilion, Kay (Dean) Mayer of Vermilion, and Jan (Bret) Middleton of Maineville; grandchildren: Amanda (Jason) Denney, Eric (Leslie) Mayer, Tyler Middleton, Emily Lezon, and Jillian Middleton; and his brother, Gilbert Deel of PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.H. and Gracie (nee Clevinger) Deel; brothers, Benton, Fines, and Harrison; and his sisters, Orpha Pennington, Lottie Cabbell, Gladys Rasnick, Lexie Stiltner, and Myrtle McGlothlin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
