Ruby Joann Johnston (nee McCullough), 83, of Vermilion, died Saturday, April 3, 2021 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 8, 1937 in Indiana, PA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 57 years moving from West Lebanon, PA. .
Ruby started her career as the food services manager for Beulah Beach Summer Camps. She then worked at Buyers Fair and Schwensen Bakery before becoming part owner and operator of Campi's Restaurant in Vermilion. She retired from Kingston of Vermilion in the house keeping department. .
She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, crocheting and she especially enjoyed having large Christmas family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Arnold Eugene Johnston of Vermilion; sons, Rodney (Catherine) Johnston of Vermilion, Michael Johnston of Vermilion, Richard (Jennie) Johnston of KY, and Robert (Lori) Johnston of Vermilion; daughters, Kimberly (Don) Reed of GA, Carolyn (James) Showalter of Wakeman, and Linda (David) Missig of Vermilion; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Dottie) McCullough of PA; and her sister, Shirley (Carl) Crittenden of TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Gladys (nee Barnett) McCullough; brother, Ronnie McCullough,and her sister, Betty Bertalino.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 9, 2021 from 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion. Friends and family who want to come are welcome to attend, but due to Covid-19, we are asking that people be careful to maintain social distancing, wear masks, and refrain from embracing.
