Obituary of Cecelia Zander
Cecelia T. Zander (nee Ryan ), 79, of Vermilion, died Monday, March 12, 2018 at Stein Hospice after a brief illness.
Cecelia was born March 19, 1938 in Cleveland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 40 years moving from Brunswick.
Cecelia worked for PremierBank & Trust as a Branch Manager for 20 years retiring in 1998. She was a "Whirling Dervish" with and entrepreneurial spirit, owning several small businesses in Vermilion, including her love for Captain Young Bed and Breakfast and the Tea Room.
She was a member of Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion, Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermilion, Vermilion Historical Society where she served on the design and review committee, Main Street Vermilion, Vermilion In Bloom, and was instrumental in the grass roots organization that brought the quiet train zone to Vermilion. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, interior design, writing, and was a voracious reader.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Gary) Hogue of Vermilion; sons, Kenneth (Loretta) Zander, Christopher (Denise) Zander, and Marc (Kimberly) Zander all of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren; 12.5 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Catherine (Robert) Zelenka of Parma; and her brother, Edgar (Mary Ellen) Ryan of Old Brooklyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Zander; parents Edgar and Mildred (nee Hayes) Ryan; and her sister, Sharon Priore.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday March 17, 2018 at 11:30 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Jim Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
