Obituary of David Hoff

David E. Hoff, 75, of Vermilion, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his home.

Dave was born March 3, 1943 in Lorain, OH, and was a life long Vermilion resident.

He was a veteran of the US Army. He fought in combat during the Vietnam War and earned a Bronze Star.

Dave worked for JL Robbins as a roofing foreman retiring in 2006. He also worked for Fruehauf Construction.

He was a member of the Roofers and Waterproofers Local 44 in Cleveland, a lifetime member of AMVETS Post # 22, and the American Legion Post #397. He enjoyed antique radios, karate, shooting at the gun range, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Jamie (William) Fuqua of Ada, OH and Krissie (Steve) Pritchett of Dry Ridge, KY; son, Joe Whatmore; brothers, Ross W. (Carol) Hoff and Richard E Hoff; sister, Diana (Dave) Downs; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda D. (nee McMillin) Hoff; son, Michael Hoff; parents Offutt Ross and Edith (nee Lassen) Hoff; and sister, Barbara Hoff.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Mr. Richard Hoff will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst where the Army National Guard will conduct military honors.
