Obituary of Dawn M. Full

Dawn M. Full, 100, of Vermilion, died Sunday, December 9, 2018 at her home after a brief illness.

Born Dawn N. Malson, she was the only child born to Dr. Totten S. and Montrose N. Malson in Akron, Ohio on January 28, 1918. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School and Wittenberg College. Dawn was the only women in her civil pilot training course where she recevied her pilot's license. She started her career as an air traffic controller in Cleveland where she met her husband Ray. In 1948 she married Ray Full (1919-1985), an accountant for Kishman Fish Company. Dawn and Ray purchased Kishman Fish Company in the early 1970's. Dawn had also worked at Wakefield Brass, Vermilion as the finance office manger for 21 years before becoming the manager of Full Reality Investments in Vermilion for 15 years.

Dawn was a member of the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregation, Vermilion Boat Club, and the Vermilion College Club. She was a past trustee of Lorain Community Hospital and a past member of the 99 Women's Flight Club, Vermilion Education Foundation, Vermilion Chamber of Commerce, Catawba Island Club, and Lorain Country Club.

Dawn was well known as a role model for women having a strong, positive, kind, and quick witted personality. She was a civic leader who supported and served on the board for many local causes including the Vermilion Family YMCA, Community Health Partners Regional Foundation, and the Cleveland Orchestra. She served two terms on Vermilion City Council and served on several local city boards. She was a frequent volunteer at the Vermilion Food Pantry and enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. Following the death of Ray, Dawn traveled through Europe, Tibet, Mongolia, Antarctica, and Yellowstone Park (via snow cat in the winter).

She is survived by her foster daughters, Carol Holp of Lorain and Barbara McAdams of TN; 5 grandchildren; and several great-grandchild.
