Obituary of Dorothy Carpenter

Golden J. Carpenter, 71 and Dorothy (nee Dunfee) Carpenter, 81, of Vermilion, died March 24, 2019 and March 27, 2019 as the result of an automobile accident.

They had been a Vermilion residents for the past 48 years moving from Birmingham, OH.

Golden was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. serving in Vietnam. He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of the UAW #425 and the American Legion. Golden enjoyed bowling and had bowled on several leagues at Lake Erie Lanes and Rebman's. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Dorothy had attended Firelands Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

They are survived by their daughters, Heather (Scott) Harris of Berlin Hts. and Cynthia (Ruben) Salvala of FL; sons, Vernon (Barbara) Hancock of Wellington and Steve Hancock of FL; grandchildren: Crystal, Cassandra, Connie, Charlotte, Kaylie, Erica, and Jason; 12 great grandchildren; Golden's, twin brother, Gordan (Nella) Carpenter of Amherst; his brothers, Pat Carpenter of Alliance, Argil Carpenter of Lorain, Arnold (Sherry) Carpenter of WV, and Richard Carpenter of Vermilion; his sisters, Shirley (Delmos) Rice of WV and Kathy Rose of WV; and Dorothy's brothers, Norman of Oberlin, Nelson of Huron, and Neil Dunfee of Lorain.

They were preceded in death by Golden's parents, Rado and Lucy Jane (nee Miles) Carpenter and his sister, Alice Tracey and Dorothy's parents, Emmett and Nellie (nee Neptune) Dunfee and her sisters, Velma Skidmore and Delores Mellott.

Private services will be held with private inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
