Harold Dean Hudson, 88, of Oberlin and formerly of Houston, TX, died Sunday, May 12, 2019 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born January 5, 1931 in Conroe, TX and had been an Oberlin resident for the past 4 years moving from Houston, TX.
Dean graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1950. He had worked as a chef for over 40 years. He had worked at the Houston Country Club, Lantern Inn, Houston TX, and Ursula's Bavarian Gardens, Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 2015, Dean retired from Sugar Creek Country Club, Sugar Land, TX.
He enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ruby Hudson of Oberlin; sons, Harold Hudson Jr. of Conroe, TX, Eric Hudson of Oberlin, and Jason (Virginia ) Hudson of Oberlin; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; and his sisters, Audrey Mesheck and Ola Faye Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlee and Norma Mae (nee Britney) Hudson; infant son, Karlous Hudson; brothers, Robert, Eddie, and Arlee Hudson Jr.; and his sister, Ollie Mae Gormer.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of a funeral service at 11:00 am at the Oscar Johnson Funeral Home, 415 Berry Rd., Houston, TX 77022.
