Obituary of Larry Knapp

Larry Knapp, 80, of Sandusky, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at his residence.


He was born February 25, 1939 in Erie, PA and had been a Sandusky resident for the past 10 years moving from Huron. He lived in Vermilion for 30 years.


Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard serving during Vietnam.


Larry worked for Ford Motor Company, Lorain as an Inspector for many years retiring in 1997.


For over twenty years, Larry owned and operated Knapp's Mats of Vermilion. He had also earned his pilots license and enjoyed flying as well as wood carving, golfing, and bowling.


He is survived by his wife, Lavern (nee Piddock) Knapp of Sandusky; sons, Larry (Kahdija) Knapp, Jr. of Oberlin and Ricky (Janie) Knapp of Vermilion; daughter, Tammy (Mark) Law of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Adam, Alexander, Joshua (Gwen), Meagan (Cameron), Scott, Crystal (Andrew), Christopher (Kristie), and Brent; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Garry (Ann) Knapp of Las Vegas, NV and Eugene (CiCi) Knapp of Dover, DE; sister, Denese (Ron) Hosack of Smyrna, TN; step sisters, Wanda Difusco of NY and Florence Randall of Albion, PA; step brother, Brent (Karen) McCabe of Bloomington, IN; and many extended family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Lee Knapp; parents, Eugene and Thelma (nee Joslin) Knapp; brother, Jack Knapp; and his step brother, Michael McCabe.


A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, OH.
