Obituary of William M. Tharp Sr.

William "Bill" M. Tharp Sr., 64, of Vermilion, died Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

 

He was born March 31, 1955 in Millville, NJ and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 43 years moving from Greenville, SC.

 

Bill worked as a long distant truck driver for Growers Mineral Solutions, Milan and had also worked for Roberts Express.

 

He was a member of Trinity Gospel Church, Vermilion. Bill enjoyed NASCAR, playing cards, scratch off lottery tickets, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra (nee Gentry) Tharp of Vermilion; daughter, Delona (Ryan) Page of Tiffin and Crystal (Joshua) Budka of Vermilion; son, William "Mike" (Jessica) Tharp, Jr. of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; sister, Linda Craig of Sandusky; many cousins; and a niece and nephew.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Tharp and his mother, Betty Isabelle (nee Carpenter) Craig.

 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Bill's son-in-law, Pastor Josh Budka will officiate. Interment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity Gospel Church, 856 Decatur Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
