Obituary of Charles Henline

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of legendary local stylist and salon owner Charles “Chaz” Henline, 63. Henline’s Charles Scott Salons and Spas has been a mainstay on the west side of Cleveland for nearly 40 years. His passion, artistry, and attention to detail made his business one of the leading salons in northeast Ohio, with locations in Rocky River and Westlake.

Chaz was a loving father and husband who cared for his family deeply. Chaz truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Spending time with his family and friends was most important to him. Chaz loved family gatherings, hunting with his father Carl, boating with his brother Dan, golfing with his buddies and father-in-law Wes Bias. He was always good to his nieces and nephew but most of all loved his family fun and travels with his wife and two daughters, Bianca and Charli. Chaz had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

Chaz was known for his generosity to customers and the community. Each Christmas he distributed gift cards to the hundreds of customers who had patronized his salons for many years. He also contributed $1,000 scholarships to Rocky River and Westlake High Schools. Chaz generously gave gift cards and spa packages for countless charity auctions.

Chaz, a native of Vermilion, got his start under the tutelage of Jeffrey Paul, and branched out on his own after 5 years with Paul. Charles Scott Salons and Spas became the first full-service salon and spa on the west side of Cleveland, offering not only traditional salon services, but also skin care, massage and a host of other body treatments for women and men. He became the hairdresser to the local stars. His clients included radio and TV personalities, professional baseball players, and the who’s who of northeast Ohio.

Chaz is survived by his wife Brigette; daughters Bianca and Charli, parents Carl and Arline, siblings Dan (Cathy) Sharon (Dr. Larry Battista) Ken (Molly), nieces Christina Page, Ashley and Erica Henline and Lorenzo Battista.

Private services will be held at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
