Obituary of Frederick C. Kennedy

Frederick "Fred" Christy Kennedy, 79, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at University Hospital Parma after a brief illness.


He was born December 20, 1940 in Berea and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 11 years moving from Nova, OH.


Fred worked as a Bargaining Committeeman for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for 30 years, retiring in 1989.


He was a member of the UAW Local #425 and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Fred's true passion was woodworking. He loved to turn different types of wood on the lathe and he was also very skilled at home improvements. One of his greatest accomplishments was building his own home when he lived in Nova.


He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (nee Petroskey) Kennedy; daughters, Lynn (William ) Swanzer of Wakeman, Denise Kennedy of MI, and Darlene (Ricky) Myrick of Lorain; sons, Bernie (Sally) Gadomski of Wakeman, Michael Collins of Bay Village, and Donald (Lori) Kennedy of Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and his sister, Marion King of Avon Lake.


He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith (nee Reuben) Kennedy and his brother-in-law, Carl King


Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.


The family suggests memorial contributions to the donors choice.
