Obituary of Gene Shultz
Robert "Gene" Eugene Shultz, 82, of Wakeman, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021 after a short illness.
He was born October 6, 1938 in Morristown, TN and had been a Wakeman resident for the past 26 years moving from Amherst and Sheffield Lake.
Gene worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as a relief operator for 32 years retiring in 1990.
He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 19, 2016. Gene with his beloved wife, Willie Ann, were sealed for time and eternity in Atlanta, Georgia Temple.
Gene was an avid Cleveland sports fan with a passion for playing baseball, softball, and golf. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball for Ford Motor Co. league. He coached his two son's baseball teams in Sheffield Lake and Brownhelm Township. He loved working out at the Oberlin Splash Zone. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Gene will be remembered as a strong and good man who gave his best to his family, friends, and neighbors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Willie Ann (nee Talley) Shultz of Wakeman; children, Tony (Susan) Shultz of Vermilion, Tamara (Dean) Wooten of Phoenix, AZ, and Troy (Margo) Shultz of Vermilion; grandchildren Ryan (Toria ) Shultz of Medina, Amy (Michael) Emerick of Vermilion, Randy (Sarah) Shultz of Wellington, Cory (Melissa) Wooten of Scottsdale, AZ, Angie (Andrew Harcula) Wooten of Vermilion, Cody and Mason Shultz of Vermilion; and his great grandchildren: Ezekiel and Sawyer Wooten, Liam and Olivia Shultz, and Levi Harcula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry B. and Rosa (nee Collins) Shultz; sisters, Alda McCoy, Elmira Jones, Hazel Ridley, Marjorie Dixson, and Irene Edmonson; and his brothers, Stanley Shultz and Henry Shultz.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 11 am until the time of the service at 1 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3501 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053. The Bishop Jason Guthrie will officiate. The funeral will be live streamed at https://zoom.us/j/96245680579. Friends and family who want to come are welcome to attend, but due to Covid-19, we are asking that people be careful to maintain social distancing, wear masks, and refrain from embracing. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
