
Obituary of James L Moats
James L Moats, 84, of Vermilion, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. He will be missed greatly by family, friends, and Lodge Brothers.
He was born February 6, 1937 in Moatsville , WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 34 years moving from New Stanton, PA.
James worked for Ford Motor Company, Lorain as an Electrician for 34 years retiring in 2009. He had also worked as the maintenance supervisor at Volkswagen of America.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Birmingham and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Jeanette PA Lodge #750 F.&A.M. James had his private pilot's license and loved to fly small Cessna aircrafts. He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and also enjoyed watching NASCAR. As a true Christian man, he enjoyed reading the scriptures.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Delores Jean Moats of Vermilion; sons, Randy L. (Karen) Moats of Wooster, OH and Jeffrey A. Moats of Avon, OH; grandson, Zachery James Higginson Moats of Columbus, OH; and brother, Larry "John" (Kim Jeffries) Moats of Philippi, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert R. and Grace A. (nee Poling) Moats; and his brothers, Burl G. Moats and Joseph E. Moats.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Fairview Church and Cemetery, Moatsville, WV, Pastor Steve Felder will officiate.
