Obituary of Patricia Kay Creel

Patricia Kay Creel ,73, of Vermilion, died on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Mercy New Life Hospice following a short illness with COVID 19.

Pat was born July 7, 1948 in Lakewood. She grew up in Vermilion and taught middle school and high school math in DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties in the greater Atlanta area from 1971 to 2001. In 2001 she moved back to Vermilion. She studied organ performance when she started college at the University of Cincinnati and was church organist in Atlanta and full time church organist at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Vermilion for 10 years. She sang in church choirs, played the hand bells, was a member of Vermilion College Club and enjoyed raising beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her sisters, Judith Gutman of Vermilion and Lynne Svec of Eastbrook, Maine; cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Linwood, Jr. and Elaine (nee Kinsman) Creel; sister, Diane Creel, March 1, 2021; brother-in-law, Bob Svec and nephew, John Svec.

Friends may call Saturday, October 2, 2021 from noon until the time of a memorial service at 2 pm. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Reverend Melinda Quellhorst, pastor of the United Church of Christ Congregational, will officiate.
