
Obituary of Ricky Phillips
Ricky Phillips, 65, of Oberlin, died Saturday, October 16, 2021 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri and had been a Oberlin resident for the past two years moving from Wakeman.
Ricky was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he worked as a helicopter mechanic for 20 years. He graduated from Willoughby South High School in 1974.
He was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church in Wakeman. Ricky enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia Phillips of Oberlin; father, Rudolph Phillips of Chardon; son, Jason (Stephanie) Phillips of Ganhanna, OH; daughter, Jamie (Matt) Bertram of Worthington; bonus children, Thomas Hunter of Wakeman; Kathleen (Brian) Thomas of Wakeman; William Jr. Hunter of CT; Daniel Hunter of VA; Timothy Hunter of Elyria; and grandchildren, Alexandria, Holden, Anna, Ava, James, Astrid and Carter.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linnie (nee Carpender) Phillips in 1986 and bonus son, James Hunter in 2010.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. The Reverend Kretchmar will officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
