Obituary of Joey Collier

Joey Collier, 61, of Wakeman, died Monday, December 27, 2021 at his home after a lengthy illness.


He was born February 20, 1960 in Pikeville, KY and had been a Wakeman resident for the past 43 years moving from Lorain.


Joey graduated from Clearview High School in 1978 and worked at Mill Hollow as a Park Ranger for the Metro Parks for over 20 years. He had also worked as a police officer for the City of Vermilion.


Joey enjoyed squirrel hunting with his dogs and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to car shows and organized the Mill Hollow car show.


He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy (nee Hicks) Collier of Wakeman; son, Michael (Rachel) Collier of Louisville, KY; grandsons, Logan and Luke; brother, Eddie (Shannon) Collier; and his sisters, Teresa Bryant and Vicki (Paul) Johns.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Eleanor (nee Bowling) Collier and his sisters, Melinda Hall and Brinda Mullins.


The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Cliff Morris will officiate.
