Obituary of Michael P. Klepek
Michael P. Klepek, 78, proud father of three, and loving husband to wife, Geraldine Klepek, passed away on the evening of April 11, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born June 9, 1943 in Lorain, Ohio and resided in Vermilion with his wife, Geraldine.
He graduated from Firelands High School and Bowling Green State University. While in High School, Michael played baseball, football, and was on the wrestling team. During his college years, he spent many summers sailing the Great Lakes with the Merchant Marines.
Michael worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for over 30 years, retiring in 2004.
He was a member of St. Mary Parish, Vermilion and the Archaeological Society of Ohio. He was an avid reader and enjoyed educational enrichment activities, especially research projects at the library. Michael was a lifelong Cleveland sports fan and enjoyed attending sporting events. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed traveling all around the United States and Europe with his family. Michael visited all 88 county fairs in the state of Ohio over the course of his lifetime. He enjoyed fishing, long bike rides, hiking in the wilderness, and he loved his backpacking adventure on Isle Royale in 2014. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Geraldine (nee Gnizak) Klepek of Vermilion; sons, Ken (Kim) Klepek of McCordsville, IN, Kevin (Reena Bose and her daughters, Alyssa and Sophia) Klepek of Westlake and Jeremy (Samantha Mick) Klepek of Elyria; grandchildren, Conner Klepek and Madison Klepek; sister, Donna Born of Oberlin; and his brother, Jim Klepek of Moneta, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael J. and Johanna "Jennie" (nee Sedivy) Klepek.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 4 -7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday, April 15, 2022 at 10:30 am at Riddle Funeral Home. Guests are encouraged to follow Covid protocol. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
