Obituary of Reta Dobbins

Reta Gray Dobbins (nee McCartney), 96, of Morgantown, WV died peacefully Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation.

 

Born October 11, 1925 in Ingo, WV, she had been an Amherst, OH resident since 1955, moving to WV in 2011 to be near her daughter.

 

An always friendly, cheerful person, she loved people, flower gardening, circle word puzzles and ole time music.

 

Reta retired from Revco Drug, Lorain, OH after 27 years of service.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Lewis) McDaniel of Morgantown, WV; grandsons, Justin Dobbins of Wisconsin, and Brian Dobbins of Colorado; sisters, Vaunda "Sue" Strincosky of Fairmont, WV and Mary Jane (Johnnie) Johnston of Rock Cave, WV; brother, Maynard "Leo" (Juanita) Bender of North Ridgeville, OH; sisters in law, Gene Bender of Hacker Valley, WV, Teresa Bender of Glenville, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carroll Dobbins in 2002; son, Thomas Dobbins in 1986; mother, Sarah (nee McCartney) Bender; father, Lonnie Bender; her twin sister, Freda Curtis Tolliver,: brothers, Theodore, Leonard, Arden "Dave" Bender and Lonnie "Budd" Bender and nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.  A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Vermilion River Reservation, Mill Hollow Carriage Barn, 51211 N Ridge Rd, Vermilion, OH 44089.  A light meal and fellowship will follow the memorial service.  

 

The family suggests memorial contributions to Brownhelm United Church of Christ, 2144 N. Ridge Rd, Vermilion, OH 44089, Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to a charity of your choice.
