Obituary of Harold L. Wisnieski

Harold Wisnieski, 92, of Elyria, died Sunday, May 1, 2022 at his daughter's home after a lengthy illness.

 

He was born April 28, 1930 in Cleveland and had been a Sheffield Lake resident for the past 6 years moving from Vermilion where he had resided for 45 years.

 

Harold was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the City of Vermilion where he worked for 10 years as a mechanic. He had also worked for Lehman Cartage, Belu and Son Paving, Jim Irwin Construction, Modern Tool and Die, and he had owned and operated two Sinclair Gas Stations in Sheffield Lake and Elyria.

 

Harold was a life member of Amvets Post #22 and also a member of the Audubon Society. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, bird watching, and he loved to socialize.

 

He is survived by his daughters, Pamela (nee Erdman) Onacila and her husband, Jay, of Sheffield Lake, Susan (nee Erdman) Tucker and her husband, Robert, of Lakewood, Laura (nee Erdman) Whalen of Elyria and Joyce (nee Erdman) Jowski and her husband, Dan; sons, Christopher Wisnieski and his wife, Johanna, of Wake Forest, NC, John Wisnieski and Rick Wisnieski; 7 grandchildren: Kate Madden, Dayton Thompson, Jordan Whalen, Caila Wisnieski, Ellaina Griffiths, Nicholas Wisnieski, Aiden Wisnieski and Zachary Rush; and his brother, Bill (Joanne) Wisnieski of Sheffield Lake.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Wisnieski in 2021; parents, Nick Wisnieski and Mary (nee Lewis) Thomas; brother, Ken Wisnieski; and his sister, Gladys Mackert.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 Noon at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors just prior to the service. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion.
